Hello Academy Families!
If this is your first email as an Academy parent, welcome! We are so excited to have your child and your whole family join our community.
If you’ve been here awhile, hello again! Summer is still in full swing, so I promise this email will be informational only – minimal parental effort required on your part, because parenting in the summer should be easy….right?
1. Checking in on the Summer Reading Challenge. Parents of students entering 1st – 12th grade should have received information regarding the Summer Reading Challenge. You can also find that information if you scroll down on our homepage: www.abidingacademy.org. Please remember that the point of this challenge is simply to motivate students to read for fun and enjoyment. Summer is a great time to foster a love of lifetime learning! First through fifth grade students – stop by the church reception desk to claim prizes for each 100 minutes you read! Sixth through twelfth graders – keep track of the books you’ve read to claim your prizes at the beginning of the school year.
2. Checking in on required reading. Students entering sixth grade and older also have been given reading this summer selected to help jump start class discussions that will happen in the fall. Please check in with your children to see how that’s going. (Don’t ask how it’s going at the Knobloch house currently…)
3. Supply lists. We will have supply lists out to families during the first week of August, so you can look for those then!
4. Come to the Summer Scoop! Save the date: Tuesday, August 15th! We will be hosting an event at Laurel Oaks/John Harris to introduce new families, reconnect with friends, share information about upcoming beginning-of-school activities, and keep you up-to-date on the latest news of our school expansion project!
More information to come, but mark your calendars to be there!
Blessings,
Elise Knobloch
